Sometimes, it begins with two people who barely notice each other. ✨
For us, it started at church.
Chapter 01
Adrummerandasinger
First-year university students in the same choir. Sylvester on the drums 🥁, Tina singing 🎶. No sparks, no butterflies.
Just a drummer and a singer doing their thing.
We were first-year university students serving in the same choir—Sylvester on the drums 🥁, Tina singing 🎶. No sparks, no butterflies. Just a drummer and a singer doing their thing.
Chapter 02
Tooserious
Tina thought Sylvester was too serious. Sylvester barely remembers noticing her. 😂
Tina thought Sylvester was too serious—always focused and rarely smiling. Sylvester, meanwhile, barely remembers noticing her. 😂
Then came second year: same church, same Business programme and the same study group.
During COVID lockdown, Sylvester posted that he wanted someone to teach him Ga because he loved Ga songs and wanted to understand the words behind the worship. Tina replied, and they moved to Telegram. She didn’t really mind him. 😊
Chapter 03
Blueticks
After COVID: status replies and blue ticks, until one question about bruised palms became one long conversation.
After COVID, they returned to school, and their relationship was mostly status replies and blue ticks. There were no long conversations until one day after an all-night, when Tina asked about the bruises on Sylvester’s palm from drumming.
One question became one long conversation—and Tina discovered that the serious-looking guy was actually nice and funny. 😂
Chapter 04
“Hi”👋🏽
By third year, his contact name was “FUNNY SYLVESTER 😂😂”. Then Tina decided to say “Hi”.
She did.
By third year, she had changed his contact name to “FUNNY SYLVESTER 😂😂.”
Then came the “Hi.” 👋🏽
After ES Adelaide shared how a simple “Hi” eventually led to meeting her husband, Tina decided she would say “Hi” to Sylvester the next time she saw him.
She did.
Sylvester didn’t respond. He watched her pass, leave church and return before finally texting her. 😂 He was clearly more of a text person than an in-person chat person.
Chapter 05
Prayerpartners
The friendship grew. Through third and fourth year they prayed together for their families and everything they were believing God for. 🙏🏽
From there, the friendship grew. They talked, spent time together and became prayer partners. Throughout third and fourth year, they prayed together regularly—for their families, personal struggles and the things they were believing God for. 🙏🏽
They also realised they both had personal issues, family matters, academic challenges and project wahala. Instead of carrying them alone, they carried them as a team and prayed through them together.
Chapter 06
TheYesDate❤️
His mission was simple: say yes to everything.
Then came the “Yes Date.” ❤️
Tina followed Sylvester to town, and his mission was simple: say yes to everything. They had fun, talked endlessly and realised just how naturally they connected.
Chapter 07
Theproposal
On the first day of national service, Sylvester proposed. Tina needed a whole coup d’état to get her there! 😂
And just like that, the friendship had a title.
Then, on the first day of national service, Sylvester proposed.
And Tina? She needed a whole coup d’état to get her there! 😂
The proposal came as a complete surprise, but it turned out to be such a beautiful time. ❤️
And just like that, the friendship had a title.
But the prayer partnership never changed. From university until today, they have continued to pray together, believe God for their families and walk through life as a team. 🙏🏽
Long before university, they had both separately prayed about their future spouses.
God apparently said, “Let me put them in the same choir first.” 😂
Chapter 08
Romantic?Questionable.
Movies, Peter Pan, yam chips with pork, Coke, Munchee cookies, and Sylvester sleeping through movie night.
Their story came with movies, Peter Pan, yam chips with pork, Coke, Munchee cookies and Sylvester sleeping through movie night in his hall. Romantic? Questionable. Memorable? Definitely. 🤭😂
Along the way, they learned patience, grace, forgiveness, communication and how to choose each other again.
Today, the drummer and the singer are preparing to stand before God—not because the journey was perfect, but because God was faithful through every twist, turn, laugh, challenge and prayer. ✨
